- 1 x 397g tin sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp desiccated coconut, to decorate
- 2 tbsp grated white chocolate, to decorate
- 2 tbsp flaked almonds, to decorate
- 2 tbsp chocolate sugar strands, to decorate
Pour the sweetened condensed milk into a saucepan and add the cocoa powder and butter.
Stir over a low heat until the butter has melted.
Now increase the heat slightly and stir as the mixture begins to boil. Continue to stir and boil the mixture for 10 minutes or until it has thickened and really coats the back of the wooden spoon.
Remove from the heat and cool for at least 15 minutes or until cool enough to handle.
Wash hands again (always wash hands thoroughly before handling foods) then take small pieces of the chocolate mixture and roll into balls. Then roll the sweets in either desiccated coconut, flaked almonds, grated chocolate or chocolate sugar strands.
Chill until ready to serve.
Cook’s tip: to cool the chocolate mixture quickly, nestle the saucepan in a bowl of iced water.
