You know the drill: you’ve been squirrelling away comfort food for months but now the warmer weather has arrived, it’s time to lighten things up.

That’s right: we’re talking about summer and with it comes your sudden dedication to lighter, healthier food. Here's our best spots around the capital. Prepare for some clean eating ...

The Detox Kitchen, Soho

Praised by Gwynnie on her infamous blog Goop, The Detox Kitchen is a lean meat, fish, fresh salads and juices kind of place. With a firm celeb following, everything is wheat, dairy and sugar-free and you can even get these healthy packages delivered to your door.

Well, if it’s good enough for Elle ‘The Body’ Macpherson …

Where: 10 Kingly Street, London W1B 5PJ
When: Mon - Fri 8am-6.30pm, Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 11am-5pm

Nama, Notting Hill

Named after the Japanese word for raw, this West London haunt is 100% meat, wheat, dairy and gluten-free, as well as being organic and unprocessed – everything is cooked below 42 degrees.

You may think that this all sounds utterly joyless but just take a moment to peruse the menu and you’ll change your mind. We’re talking courgette and walnut-base pizzas with pesto, veg, macadamia parmesan and micro herbs, courgetti dishes and mocha cheesecake.

Where: 110 Talbot Road, London W11 1JR
When: Mon - Wed 9am-5pm, Thurs-Fri 9am-10pm, Sat 10am-10pm, Sun 10am-6pm

Tanya’s Cafe, Parson’s Green

So, this is where you go when you want a bevvy as they serve super-food cocktails, made with organic alcohol and fresh cold-pressed juices.

Tuck into cheesy kale chips, nachos made from sweetcorn, buckwheat gnocchi and raw chocolates for the raw, plant-based way to do a night out.

Where: 709 Fulham Roas, London SW6 5LU and 35 Ixworth Place SW3 3QX
When: Mon - Thurs 8am-8.30pm, Fri 8am-7pm, Sat - Sun 9am-4pm

Little H, Chelsea

The sister restaurant of the Californian-inspired hangout Hally’s, this is all about clean living. It’s small, so a good place to grab and go.

Breakfast is a chia-seed-and-almond-milk-pots kind of affair, while lunch is a spread of changing salads served with grilled chicken, poached salmon or marinated tofu, and daily soups served with rye or gluten-free bread.

Where: 267 New Kings Road, London SW6 4RB
When: Mon - Fri 7.30am-5pm, Sat - Sun 9am-5pm

Wild Food Cafe, Covent Garden

The menu may be small and the queues long at one of Deliciously Ella’s favourite healthy haunts, but the dishes are pretty creative.

The focus here is on raw cooking (they claim to serve the best raw veggie burger in town) but there are some above body temperature dishes too if you’re in the mood for something warmer.

Vegans are well catered for and Monmouth coffee and organic wines are also available, which means you could easily spend a sunny afternoon perched at one of their much sought after tables. Oh, and throw in one of their raw chocolate pralines for good measure, too.

Where: 1st Floor, 14 Neal’s Yard, London WC2H 9DP
When: Sun - Mon 12pm-5pm, Tues - Sat 12pm-10pm

Snaps & Rye, Notting Hill

Scandinavians have seduced most parts of our lives: design, TV shows, Sarah Lund-style jumpers and their simple, healthy eating. This West London cafe, with their smørrebrød (an open rye sandwich of cured salmon, fennel pollen and marinated herring) is pure Nordic nourishment.

Where: 93 Golborne Road, Notting Hill W10 5NL
When: Tues - Thurs 8am-6pm, Fri 8am-11pm, Sat 8am-6pm, Sun 10am-6pm

The Good Life, Chelsea and Marylebone Lane

This place isn’t just about detox salads and green juices (although they do serve these, too) and that’s why the queues are long – you have been warned. This Chelsea joint does everything from breakfast through to lunch to pudding. Dishes include paleo chestnut and almond waffles, open salmon and avocado sandwiches on wheat-free toast, summer bone broth and peanut butter cups.

Well, it’s all in the name really isn’t it?

Where: 59 Sloane Square, London SW3 3DH
When: Mon - Fri 7.30am-8pm, Sat 8am-7pm, Sun 9am-6pm
