Be thankful for a Slap Ya Papa feast

Thank Ya Papa supper club

There are nearly as many Thanksgiving dinners in London to choose from this week as there are things to be thankful for – but one of the most exciting has to be Thank Ya Papa, the all-singing, all-stomping feast from New Orleans supper club maestros Slap Ya Papa.

Hosted for five days at Styx Space in Tottenham Hale, there'll be live music, hot toddies and a next-level soul food menu. Expect deep-fried turkey, cornbread stuffing, candied yams, truffled sprouts, pumpkin pie pudding and all manner of other heavenly manna that will leave you seeing stars (and stripes).

Wednesday 25 to Sunday 29 November. Tickets from £36.75. Book here.

Roll up, roll up for dips and wraps at Hoppers

From the folks at much-lauded Indian restaurant Gymkhana comes a new opening to have us jumping for joy. The newly opened Hoppers in Soho is inspired by Sri Lankan roadside food shacks, offering dosas, chutneys, sambols and the eponymous hoppers – a bowl-shaped pancake made from coconut-milk batter and fermented rice.

Service is quick, prices are cheap and eating is wonderfully messy. Hop to it before everyone else does.

Pull a right turkey (sandwich) at Melt Room

If you're not staging a full sit-down Thanksgiving supper (we need to save room for the big day in a month's time, after all), you can at least get an early turkey fix with Melt Room's Thanksgiving melt, a generous wodge of pulled turkey, roasted sweet potato, stuffing and molten cheese (obviously), with cranberry dipping sauce on the side.

Remember you'll need a quiet place to nap afterwards.

Go into hibernation at York & Albany's Winter Chalet

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the hot toddies are so delightful… pretend you've no place to go, and hunker down in the Winter Chalet pop-up at Gordon Ramsay's York & Albany.

Featuring all the best bits of après-ski (raclette, venison, furry blankets and spicy cocktails with cream in them) without actually having to set foot on a slope, an evening in this cosy burrow could be enough to have you praying for snow.

Until 1 February. Canapes and two cocktails, £30 per person. Book here.

Eat the city's hottest dishes at Taste of London: The Festive Edition

Taste of London

This four-day gourmet gorge-fest promises all the same treats as the summer Taste of London – dishes from the city's top restaurants, chef demos, interactive pop-ups and exciting new products as far as the eye can see – but this time with an extra helping of Christmas joy.

The action moves to East London's atmospheric Tobacco Dock, with festive extras like the Fire Pit winter barbecue, a special whiskey launched by The Pogues and a giant replica of Game of Thrones' King’s Landing made entirely out of gingerbread. Obviously.

Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 November. Tickets from £15. Book here.
