With summer hotting up, we round up the best food gatherings across London from Friday 10 July
It's Friiiiiiiiiday! Welcome to the weekend, it's going to be a good one.
Where to watch Wimbledon?
Obviously, this is the most important question of the weekend. Even if you're not a die-hard tennis fan, there is nothing more British than sitting outside with a Pimm's, some strawberries and cream and listening to the thwack-grunt-thwack of Wimbledon. Here are some outdoor screens we 40-Love:
The London Riviera
Down by Tower Bridge you can soak up the London skyline, kick back on the Southbank and enjoy a Wimbledon-inspired cocktail from the comfort of a deckchair. London Riviera is a summer long pop-up bar and kitchen, complete with big screens, live music and those all important deckchairs. Combining the ridiculousness of Miami with the sophistication of the French Riviera, Ceru Restaurant will be serving delicious eastern Mediterranean street food, and there'll be cocktails, strawberries and cream and flamingoes! What more could you want?
Strawberries and Screen
Match point for such an excellent name. Pack a picnic and get down to Lewis Cubbit Square to cheer on Murray (maybe). There are 50 free deckchairs for the early birds, and if you haven't got organised enough for a picnic, there'll be street food, prosecco and that all important Pimm's.
Head to the Model Market
Perfect market? Market for just super-models? Head to London's 'nomadic street food circus' to discover that it's neither, but instead a fantastic street food explosion in Lewisham. Meet your new favourites Rola Wala, Mother Flipper and Smokestak, washed down with an alcoholic milkshake served from an old hair salon. Every Friday and Saturday night. Free before 7pm, £3 after.
Hot Tub Time Machine
Well. Maybe not the time machine part. But you can now rent out a hot tub for dinner with your pals. Billed as 'hot tubs, canapés and cocktails by the canal', head down to Hackney Wick for the 'world's first' Supper Tub which officially launches this weekend, complete with Peruvian tapas. You can book a whole tub for up to 8 people for £150, or get a pair of tickets for £50 and 'make new friends'. You know what they say: some of the best friends are made while bathing in a small wooden tub eating a Peruvian skewer next a canal.
Vive La France!
It's Bastille Day on Tuesday 12 July and Borough Market is taking it all très seriously. Expect gallons of cheese, acres of fresh French bread, and more perfect patisserie than you can shake a baguette at. Oh la la!
