Let's start planning the week ahead with all the best food-related events going down in London from Friday 12 June …
With only nine days to go until the nights start drawing in again (sorry), now's the time to kick your summer activities up a gear. Here are the best foodie events happening in London over the next week, starting from Friday 12 June ...
Try a taste of London ... or several
Now's your chance to cram in a year's worth of a restaurant dining into a few glorious hours. Starting Wednesday 17 June, Taste of London is the grandaddy of summer eating events and it's setting up camp in Regent's Park until Sunday 21 June.
Featuring stalls from more than 40 of the capital's foodie hotspots (from Peckham's Artusi to Kensington's Zaika and all that's in between), the festival also offers live cookery demos, celebrity chef cameos and the chance to have a little nap on the grass afterwards. Tickets are on sale now from £16.
Feast al fresco
Hot on the heels of Street Feast's return to Dalston and Lewisham comes Dinerama, a former-truck-depot-turned-all-day-eating-extravaganza in Shoreditch. Kicking off Friday 12 June, the street food 'arena' is going to be open on Wednesdays through to Sundays this summer and will feature six street diners, five street food shacks, six bars and multiple street food trucks. Expect drippy meat, strong drinks and trendsters as far as the eye can see.
Get lost in the forest
As rustic and magical an experience as you're likely to get within the M25, the Kopparberg Urban Forest is popping up this summer in the mystical wilderness of Hackney Wick. Blending Scandinavian culture with London's never-ending passion for street food, big tunes and booze, the Swedish cider brand has booked a fizzing line-up of musicians and DJs to entertain the crowd under the enchanted canopies.
The action happens every Wednesday to Sunday from 10 June until 12 July. Beards and flower crowns guaranteed. Free entry.
Move on up
Street level is so last month. Set your sights a little higher this week and get yourself to one of the city's best rooftop drinking spots before everybody else does.
The already-iconic Frank's Cafe has reopened its doors for another summer of neon cocktails and bold meze on the 10th floor of a multi-storey car park in Peckham. Meanwhile in central London, newcomers Roofnic and Vintage Salt are battling it out to be Oxford Street's hottest viewing point. The former is a 'hidden rooftop oasis' dishing up drinks in jam jars and doorstop 'manwiches'; the latter is a Cornish-inspired restaurant and bar perched on top of Selfridges. All served (hopefully) with a side of June sunshine.
Peas and thank you
Down at the bottom of the garden, among the birds and the bees, there's a load of little peas that are now ripe for popping. From spreads and soups to barbecues and even baking, we've got a fresh crop of ideas to help you use this versatile summer veg. Give peas a chance.
