It's Friday! Let's start planning the week ahead with all the best food-related events going down in London …
It's Friday! Yippee! The sun keeps on creeping out and summer seems like it's almost finally here. There's a whole lot to celebrate. Let's see what's coming up over the next seven days in London.
Brixton is really thinking outside the box. They've got themselves a brand-new, super-cool hangout in the shape of several shipping containers and some of the best food in the world. Packed with restaurants, street food, bars and even a Japanese teahouse, Pop Brixton is all about empowering the community and comes with a public garden, an art gallery, a buskers' corner and a huge live music space. The big opening is Friday 29 May at 5pm.
Anyone for a tap water?
A Shoreditch bar that only serves tap water? It may sound like the next awful novelty pop-up, but thankfully this one is actually for charity. On Friday 29 May, for one day only, the H2Only Bar will be serving water.
Bring your friends for unlimited rounds and leave feeling much better than you went in. It's a call to action from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), which is asking people to ditch all other drinks in favour of tap water for 10 days. You can also donate the money you'd normally spend on tea, coffee, fizz and beer to the RNLI to raise vital funds for its lifeboat crews.
The charity's 10-day challenge starts 5pm on Tuesday 2 June – if you think you're up to it, sign up here.
The slider decider
The most important of all the competitions – the slider decider! Who will be crowned the ultimate burger king? Find out on Thursday 4 June when 16 finalists battle it out at The Gun pub in the Docklands. Tickets are £20 entry and get you a Camden Hells larger, two of the Gun's own sliders and the chance to taste the competition. Doors open at 6pm.

Selfridges presents the Great British Outdoors
The Selfridges foodhall will be undergoing something of a transformation for the next eight weeks as they celebrate everything great about British summertime. There'll be barbecue masterclasses from Turner and George, a strawberries and cream bar, a luxury gelato pop-up and lots more.
Flamingo Pier is our new favourite party. A floating tropical shindig on a pontoon down in Hackney Wick, it kicks off at 6pm every Friday with a different theme each week. Tonight, it's Seychelles, which means DJs, live music, tropical cocktails, and food from London's only authentic Seychellois street food kitchen, Vinn Goute. Tickets are from £15 and it's first come, first serve, so get there quick.
The botanical gardens after dark. For six nights over the summer, Kew Gardens will open its gates for an enchanting evening as part of the Full of Spice festival. Take a rickshaw round the garden, invent your own spice to take home, listen to the live music, and attend talks on the incredible history of spice, all while enjoying a botantical cocktail. Perfect. Every Wednesday from 6.30pm. Tickets are £11, members go free.
