Love coffee? Ever downed one cup too many? Then you'll recognise every one of these caffeine overload moments

Any self-confessed caffeine addict knows the drill: it's been a late night followed by an early morning, and the day ahead is a never-ending story of meetings/deadlines/children to look after.

You started things off with a black coffee in your pyjamas followed by a few espressos for the road. By the time you’ve left the house, you’ve swallowed the equivalent of seven caffeine-filled buckets and have now vibrated your way to the front of the cafe queue demanding a large flat white to take away. Whoops.

Here’s what you can expect when you’ve accidently drank too much of the brown stuff.

You become aware of your own heartbeat because you can now feel it in your eyes

You’ll get paranoid about everything. This will make you act weirdly

You’ll think about every coffee you've ever drank and ask yourself, "Why?"

Everyone knows you’re acting weirdly. Wait... they’re watching you. Even the stranger opposite you on the train. He’s watching you, and he knows you know

Before long, you’ll start over-thinking normal things, like how to walk into a room

And you'll get stressed over everything you once found so easy. Like putting on your own shoes. Easy? No

Because your mind is in panic mode, the simple everyday questions are impossible to answer. Would you like this sandwich to have in or take away? Is anyone sitting there? What’s your name?

You’ll probably have a regretful meeting with your boss

And if you're pulling an all-nighter, you can forget it. Caffeine might keep your body awake, but it doesn't make your brain work. Give up the charade

Caffeine-induced panic attacks are scary – you'll need a safe space. Like the back of a card shop

Chewing gum will provide an excuse for your overactive jaw, which now won’t stop chattering – but remember, slow and steady

When the caffeine finally wears off, you’ll feel like an exhausted hero returning from an epic journey. You'll tell everyone you know that you love them

But although it was all a mistake, you know you'll do it again one day. Because coffee is fragrant and rich and creamy and you’ll never not love it
