Even by Japan's standards, this restaurant in a giant basement in Shinjuku's Kabukicho district is really quite something.

Costing an alleged £55m to create, Robot Restaurant is a relentless assualt of the senses. There are mirrors, explosions, a lot of neon and a thousand flashing lights. Check out the website for just a taste.

You do get a glow-stick though, so there is that. Plus if you're well behaved, you might get to control your own very own fembot. OK, we're sort of tempted.
