Gold leaf, macadamia nuts and a whole lot of class – and that's just for breakfast
Wednesday 9 September is a glorious day. Why? Because our very own Queen Elizabeth II has ousted her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, from her 'longest reigning monarch' pedestal. In fact, she's reigned for 63 years and seven months. And how best to celebrate this occasion? Trumpets? Flags? Commemorative plates?
None of the above.
The correct answer is, in fact, by eating a bowl of posh cereal.
It's true. Breakfast stalwart Kellogg's has gone and created what is its most special box yet to mark the big day. 'Queen Flakes' are a unique blend of Special K, classic Cornflakes – all adorned with edible gold leaf, naturally – edible pearls and diamonds, plus her apparent favourite, macadamia nuts. It sounds like it's going to be a right royal riot.
Care to sample a bowl? Sadly, you can't get it in shops. But one place that is dishing up servings of the treat is Manchester cafe, Black Milk Cereal, where you can get your hands on a portion for £6.30.
That's pretty reasonable for the breakfast equivalent of the crown jewels, no?
