Herbed shrimp with asparagus and stuffed olives at 45,000ft, anyone?
What foodie delights did you have when you boarded the flight for your summer holiday? A giant bag of Haribo? A mini tin of salt and vinegar Pringles? A four-course meal including two types of stuffed pasta, a choice of five wines and a charcuterie platter?
Because the latter is what reigning pontiff Pope Francis had when he last boarded a chartered jet from Italy to Cuba.
In a series of recently released photos, the papal on-board feast was revealed from the starter to the dessert.
To kick off proceedings, we have herb shrimp with asparagus and a stuffed olive.
Next up, charcuterie, cheese and mixed veg.
Now we're onto pasta, which was available in two ways: ravioli with béchamel sauce, as well as a cheesy crêpe with courgette, limoncello and salmon.
To finish, there was a fruity dessert with a cookie and a Ferrero Rocher. Posh.
All in all, not a bad way to spend a few hours in the air, hey?
