You've probably heard that McDonald’s is selling 600 bottles of their secret Big Mac sauce.
The bad news? It’s only available in Australia – or on eBay for A$23,000 (that's nearly £12,000) with 8 days' bidding still to go. Seriously.
Before you have a fast food-related breakdown or take out a bank loan, relax, we’ve unearthed a recipe that tastes like the real deal.
First up, what’s in the bottled version? Water, rapeseed oil, spirit vinegar, gherkin, sugar, modified maize starch, free range egg, spices (contains mustard), salt, glucose-fructose syrup, thickener (xanthan gum), natural flavourings, firming agent (calcium chloride), colour (paprika extract), preservative (potassium sorbate).
Now, that might not sound overly appetising (or what you might see on the shelves during your weekly shop) but nonetheless the sauce has a cult following.
Luckily, McDonald’s executive chef, Dan Coudreaut, has come to the rescue and can show you how to make the sauce with mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, mustard, white wine vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika.
Ahh, that’s better – well, minus the powders.
