Yes, there is going to be a café where you can pay for your afternoon cuppa and cookie with a cuddle. Cute!

Tea and sympathy: get a mug for a hug (with a biscuit thrown in) at the cuddle café

Biscuits are wonderful, wonderful things. As are hugs and tea for that matter. So why no genius has thought of combining these three before is beyond us.

Biscuit brand McVitie’s are hosting a pop-up cuddle café in central London where they will dish out tea and biccies in return for an embrace.

The entire place has apparently been designed to keep you feeling relaxed, chipper and to increase that warm and fuzzy feeling.

According to the man behind the café, Dr Stuart Farrimond, the majority of us are lacking in cuddles and the oxytocin they produce. The result? We’re grumpy.

He said: “My research not only discovered that cuddling a soft toy triggers a similar emotional response and health benefit to hugging a person but also that the act of drinking a hot beverage can stimulate similar warm, positive feelings, so what better combination than a cuppa and a cuddle.” The man makes a good point.

Bring on the tea and biscuits – there’s still no word on whether those cutesy puppies will emerge from the biscuit packets, though.

The Cuddle Café will open its doors for two hours on Tuesday February 10th, between 8-10pm, and then for the whole of Wednesday February 11th. Find it at 52 Tottenham Street, London W1T 5RN
