What Michel likes to eat: “One of my favourite things to have on a day off is baked eggs with corn and chorizo. It’s a popular classic in France and a delicious alternative to egg and soldiers.”

Why: “It’s simple, inexpensive and quick to prepare which is a joy when I have been working in the kitchen all day. Plus nothing beats dunking a buttery piece of toast into an oozing pot of yolky egg and chorizo!”

Who: Michelin-starred chef, restaurateur (including the Gilbert Scott and Marcus) and new judge on MasterChef: the Professionals.

What Marcus likes to eat: “When I am not in one of the restaurants I tend to eat salads at home. Now we are coming into autumn we are moving into warm salads and they are so easy to make and you can pack them full of flavour and delicious seasonal ingredients. Some of my favourites at the moment include rare beef, roasted squash and tarragon or pearl barley, sunblush tomatoes, smoked paprika and feta.”

Why: “Spending all week tasting, tasting, tasting in the restaurants, I like the lightness and freshness of salads – and it helps that my wife Jane is absolutely brilliant at making them.”
