It's back to Bake Off basics this week
It's episode seven of The Great British Bake Off tonight and you'll be pleased to hear that it's dessert week. Lovely, snuggly, bury it in custard and give us a big spoon pudding. We can't wait.
Here's what to expect – the signatures are all about a pud you can roll, but will producers really risk a repeat of baked Alaska-gate and get the bakers making their own ice cream, or do we have a jam roly-poly on our hands? We're thrilled with either, mainly because watching amateur bakers roll anything under pressure with shaking hands and a ticking clock is brilliant entertainment.
Next up it's the technical – a 'tricky French dessert' that we hope means one thing: crème brûlée.
It's the kind of dish that requires experience, very specific skill and an outcome that has to be absolutely perfect – it's got Bake Off technical written all over it.
Finally, the showstopper involves a multi-bake of mini puds – the absolute best kind, those tiny portions basically mean they didn't even happen, right? There'll be mousse and lots of it – but who'll bake their way into the quarter-final, and who will be given the Bake Off boot?
Luckily, all us lovely viewers have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride. Best bake something for the journey – and this avocado, banana and cacao mousse with coconut recipe is ready in FIVE MINUTES and tastes incredible. Ready, steady, smug face.
