If a pudding isn't saucy, we’re just not interested. But, luckily, self-saucing puds are so simple to make even butter-fingered folk like us can make them

Ooh, you saucy thing, you

A pudding's not a pudding without sauce, is it? Can you imagine sticky toffee without the toffee sauce? Christmas pud without the brandy cream? Spotted dick without custard? No, no and no. But it's also a bit too much effort having to make a pudding and then a sauce to go with it. Sometimes you just want the hard work done for you.

Step forward, little self-saucing puds. These beauties bake in one dish and through some culinary miracle yield hot sauce when you scoop into them with a spoon. They’re easy to whip up and taste amazing.

We’ve found the best self-saucing recipes on the planet (you can thank us later).

If this doesn’t brighten up gloomy skies, then we don’t know what will. You can use ordinary milk but the flavours of almond milk and orange go particularly well together. Try it and taste for yourself.

A meeting of coffee, Kahlua, chocolate and vanilla. The heat of the pudding and cold of the ice cream make a happy pairing, too. Romantic pudding for two?
