Why didn't they think of this on Great British Bake-off?

Time and effort have always been the two major things getting in the way of cake baking. Unfortunately for our waistlines, those excuses are simply not good enough anymore. According to industrious internet folk, all you need is a microwave and five minutes in order to fill your cake hole.

What would Mary Berry say? Madness or genius? There was only one thing for it...

Step 1

You'll need:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp chocolate chips

The verdict

It was pretty darned good, considering. A little dense, perhaps. But - *confession* - that might have something to do with the fact that we bought self-raising flour by accident so skipped the baking powder. For a quick chocolate fix with novelty factor, we heartily recommend. Dollop a blob of cream on top for added indulgence.
