Salsa verde

So this one's not technically a newcomer – it's quite a traditional Italian oldcomer, actually – but the likelihood is you've been woefully neglecting this incredible sauce. Garlicky, herby and oily, it has all the best ingredients for drizzling over meat/bread/your face you could hope for.

Pistachio pesto

You probably think you know all about pesto. Well, you don't. You don't know pesto until you've made Homemade's pistachio version. The sweetness of the pistachios makes it the ideal spread or salad cheerer-upper. Highly addictive.

Tomato chilli jam

This recipe made with slow roasted toms and a pinch of fennel is the absolute best. Feel free to add a little sprinkle of chilli, and you've done a real number on ketchup and have left it for dust. Get this on your sausage sandwich and you'll never look back.

Beery mustard

You've probably haven't put much thought into making your own mustard before, but we can highly recommend it. Especially when involves having to open some beers. One for us, one for you. The best bit is this will travel beautifully and keep for ages. You'll be the toast of the picnic.
