Will any of the GBBO showstoppers rival these winners?

Can we just stop for a moment to thank the genius mind that first put together cheese and cake? It is surely the greatest of all desserts (whether baked or unbaked).

But there's also the cheesecakes that go above and beyond the dessert rules. The ridiculously decadent, the ones that probably include your daily allowance of sugar in one small slice, the totally Instagrammable decorations – you know the ones. We scoured the internet to find the best:

Chocolate Oreo cheesecake

Warning: chocolate overload. This cake packs in a load of Oreos and chocolate, because you’re never going to regret a double chocolate treat.

Blueberry and lemon cheesecake

OK, we’re calling it. This might be the best-looking cheesecake on the internet. And it’s vegan, which practically makes it good for you to eat it.

Shattered black forest cheesecake

The 'best-looking' prize just got hotly contested by this stunner.

Peanut-butter-cup cheesecake

Because there is never anything wrong with bringing your favourite sweets and favourite desserts together in a cakey marriage.

Deep-fried cheesecake

Yes, you heard right. No, we’re surprisingly not in Scotland. It’s not gonna win any best-looking prizes any time soon, but this deep-fried cheesecake definitely ticks the box for decadent. If not slightly dirty.

Rainbow cheesecake hearts

The recipe’s a little fiddly, but you end up with little showstoppers that any GBBO contestant would be proud of. May or may not have pots of gold under them.

Japanese cheesecake

Lighter than Cheryl Fernandez-Versini holding a bunch of helium-filled balloons, apparently, thanks to whisking the egg whites into peaks and folding gently in. Bonus: you get to eat even more of it, without feeling too full.

With autumn approaching fast (yeah, soz), this is a pretty timely cheesecake to turn your hand to. Watch it vanish from the cake tin in seconds.

Butterscotch? Yep. Popcorn? Definitely. Cheesecake? Get in our face.
