Bonfire Night is the perfect excuse to bake seasonal cakes, buns and brownies. We bring you some of the best

1. Easy S'mores

Make these melty, oozy s'mores by sandwiching chocolate and marshmallows with your favourite biscuits and grilling. Instant deliciousness.

2. Bonfire night toffee apples

Try your hand at toffee apples with a twist. Dip the apples in toffee then in crushed ginger biscuits and mini sugar stars, or ditch the toffee altogether and dunk in melted milk chocolate (controversial, but good).

3. Pumpkin seed, black treacle and ginger squares

Fudgy dried apricots and toasted pumpkin seeds bring a sophisticated edge to this dark and delicious parkin. It will stay irresistibly moist for a good few days, so you can make it ahead of time.

4. Marshmallow chocolate traybake

Packet cake mix and a quick marshmallow topping mean you can whip up this squidgy chocolate cake in half an hour flat.

5. Armagnac prune Chelsea buns

A packet bread mix is the secret to these speedy Armagnac and prune Chelsea buns. Tear and share these good-looking treats to restore any firework-frazzled friends.

6. Salted butter caramel cake

This cake is spectacularly indulgent, but after standing out all night in the cold surrounded by screaming kids and hordes of people, it’s an indulgence you definitely deserve.

7. Apple, maple and cinnamon muffins

Fair-trade cinnamon, Canadian maple syrup, natural yogurt and fresh apple chunks. Mmm. If you make them ahead of time, pop them in the microwave for 20 seconds (without the icing sugar topping) and they’ll smell freshly baked.

8. Banana pancakes with toffee sauce

Homemade toffee sauce and warm pancakes – the perfect treat for any cold autumn night. Add a dollop of velvety cream and you're done.

9. Bonfire Night cake

This cake just speaks for itself ...
